Priora is a small desktop app that does one thing well. It makes you put your wants in order, from the one that matters most down to the one that matters least, and then keeps that list in front of you.
Free, no account needed, and your list never leaves your machine.
The idea
Most apps let everything sit at the same level of important, so nothing really is. Priora won't do that. When you add a want, you have to place it somewhere in the order. There is no neutral middle to hide things in. Over time the order itself becomes the useful part, because it shows you what you actually care about rather than what you meant to.
Capture
Type it, hit add, done. No projects to file it under, no tags, no due dates to fill in before you are allowed to save. The point is to get the thing out of your head and onto the list while you are still thinking about it. You can rank it properly later.
The record
When something finally happens, you mark it done and it moves to your achieved list with the date attached. Over months it builds into a quiet record of the things you said you wanted and then actually got. It is worth looking at on the days when it feels like nothing is moving.
Where it comes from
"Write down what you want. Be definite. Rank it in the order of its importance. Look at it every day."
It Works · R.H. Jarrett · 1926
Priora is built on a small book from 1926 called It Works. The idea in it is almost too plain to take seriously: decide what you want, be specific, put it in order of importance, look at it often, and don't talk it to death. Priora is that method turned into something you will actually open, instead of a folded piece of paper you lose in a drawer.
